Bhavesh Patel is the CFO of Blue Origin’s Operations Group. He has 26 years of engineering, operational, financial and business management experience in the aerospace and technology sectors. He held senior leadership roles at Orbital Sciences Corporation that included business unit CFO, special assistant to the CEO, co-head of corporate strategy/development, and head of Orbital’s innovation incubator. He has also held C-level positions at health and enterprise software companies.
Bhavesh has a wide range of engineering, financial and business management experience in various technology-based industries. In the space industry, his roles have included engineering, operations, business development, business management, strategy, finance, and mergers/acquisitions. He has been fortunate to have contributed to initiatives such as reusable launch vehicles, communications satellite constellations, space station commercial cargo delivery, commercial space stations, space domain awareness and deep space exploration.
Bhavesh holds a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Systems Engineering from University of Southampton (UK), a Masters degree in Aeronautical/Astronautical Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and a Masters degree in Business Administration from Harvard Business School.
Away from work, Bhavesh enjoys spending time with his family. He loves to engage in endurance sports such as long-course triathlons, marathons and mountain climbing. Bhavesh is an avid enthusiast of all things space, plays the Indian drums (tabla) and enjoys fundraising for various children’s non-profit organizations. He served on the Board of Trustees at Dell Children’s Medical Center in Austin, Texas.
