U.S. economic growth is buffeted by crosswinds. Slowing employment growth presents a real risk, with the possibility of the end of “labor hoarding” triggering a recession.  But recent burdens of federal policy may have peaked, and recovering confidence and tax bill stimulus support continued growth.  With inflation still above the Fed’s target, our central bankers have no clear path forward and will be forced to be more reactive, but data will drive the path of interest rates.

Strong household finances and growing wealth are keeping Americans spending. At the same time, businesses continue to invest in AI, even as the pace of those investments starts to level off.

However, uncertainty remains high and the range of possible outcomes is wide: On one hand, consumer demand or AI-driven productivity could boost growth above the baseline forecast; on the other hand, the U.S. economy could be hit harder than expected by issues including monetary policy, tariffs and immigration.

The exact path depends on the strength of the consumer amid a slowing labor market and when AI adoption increases productivity gains meaningfully.

Please join us on January 8th for an Economic Outlook presented by Jeff Korzenik, Chief Economist for Fifth Third Commercial Bank.

This presentation will be preceded by an optional CPE session presented by Randy Lay of G2 Capital Advisors on the topic of “Anatomy of a Restructuring” from 4:30 PM to 5:30 PM. In this session we’ll review real life case studies of consensual and judicially supervised restructuring processes. We’ll cover negotiating strategies with sponsors, lenders, and the management team. We’ll review the key points of navigating a judicial process-including Chapter 11, 7, Assignments for the Benefit of Creditors (ABC’s) and Subchapter V proceedings. Please register for both sessions if you plan to attend each of them.
