The Texas Energy Expansion: New Directions and Global Trends

Pat Wood III is the past Chairman of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and of the Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT). The son of a small businessman, Pat has been a forceful advocate throughout his career for customer-centered, technology-unleashing competition and for robust infrastructure.

In his presentation to FEI Dallas last year, Pat gave a deep dive into the background of the Texas energy Renaissance, and the surprising fact that Texas is setting the global path for the clean energy transition, and that this shift is being driven by markets and innovators, not by monopolies and governments. With all of the energy issues on the front page in recent months, we asked Pat to come back with an update on what is now happening across the energy front.  These new issues include:

  • Data farms/AI facilities that are driving sharp power consumption increases worldwide

  • Texas grid improvements

  • Ending of federal subsidies for wind, solar and EVs

  • Natural gas exports

  • Global oil uncertainties

  • China energy picture

Pat Wood III | Executive Chairman, Hunt Energy Network

Learning Objectives – Attendees at this program will learn directional changes since the U.S. election and future issues In Texas.
