Dr. Marianne Wanamaker is the dean of the University of Tennessee’s Baker School of Public Policy and a professor of economics and public policy. A labor economist, she previously served as chief domestic economist at the White House Council of Economic Advisors and has held research roles with the NBER, IZA, and Stellenbosch University. Her work focuses on labor, education, and workforce development and has been featured in major media and supported by federal agencies.
She serves on the boards of Zoo Knoxville, ThinkWhy, and 3 Roots Capital, and advises the Economic Innovation Group. A Vanderbilt alumna and Northwestern PhD, she joined UT’s faculty in 2009 and is a native of Martin, Tennessee.
